Former EXO member Tao has candidly opened up about his post-wedding weight gain, revealing that he now weighs 90 kilograms (about 198 pounds)—and he couldn’t be happier about it.
Tao recently appeared on a Chinese variety show, where he casually shared his current weight, immediately drawing attention from viewers. The moment quickly turned into a laugh-out-loud scene when he was abruptly woken up and dragged off by the production team—before he even had time to put his pants on. Startled, Tao shouted, “I’m heavy! I’m 90kg!”
The cast teased him for gaining weight, with one fellow guest jokingly asking if marriage really causes “happy weight.” Tao pushed back with a grin, explaining that he’s actually been managing his weight and has already slimmed down a bit. “I’m not that fat,” he said, later cracking viewers up by checking his reflection in the mirror back in his room.
After the broadcast, Tao addressed the topic again during a live stream, offering an honest—and affectionate—reason for the change. “My wife’s cooking is just too good,” he said. “I’m gaining weight because I’m so happy.”
Tao married Xu Yiyang last October in a lavish ceremony held in Hainan, China. Since then, fans have noticed his softer look, including a noticeably fuller face, sparking playful online buzz.
Both Tao and Xu previously trained under SM Entertainment, and they are now signed to Longtao Entertainment. Tao debuted in 2012 as a member of EXO, before leaving the group in 2015 and continuing his career primarily in China.
For Tao, it seems married life suits him just fine—extra kilos and all.
