A group of BTS’s Jungkook fans staged a “truck protest” outside HYBE’s headquarters in Seoul on the 10th in response to recent dating rumors. The protesters made their demands known through messages displayed on the truck’s large LED screens.
The messages included: “How can you engage in behavior that harms the group?”, “Leave BTS if you refuse to remove the couple tattoo,” and “This is all ARMYs got after waiting for you during your military service.”
This protest seems to be linked to rumors connecting Jungkook with Winter of aespa. Alleged “evidence” supporting these rumors has reportedly led to frustration among some fans. However, Jungkook’s agency has remained silent since the rumors first surfaced on December 5th.
In response, SM Entertainment has taken legal action. The company released an official statement on December 10th outlining their approach.
“We are fully aware of the severity of malicious posts and comments targeting our artists,” the agency said, referencing both internal monitoring and reports submitted by fans through their ‘KWANGYA 119’ reporting center. The statement highlighted offenses such as sexual harassment, defamation, personal attacks, privacy invasion, and deepfakes.
SM Entertainment confirmed they’ve identified malicious posts targeting Winter across platforms like DC Inside, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, and other online communities. The agency plans to review these posts and expand their legal action as necessary.
“We are pursuing both criminal and civil claims against those spreading malicious posts about aespa,” SM said. They also stated they are collecting substantial evidence on the creation of false rumors and the distribution of sexually harassing or distorted content.
“We will take strong and relentless action,” they concluded.
