Comedian Cho Sae Ho is stepping away from KBS’s 2 Days & 1 Night and tvN’s You Quiz on the Block after online accusations tied him to an alleged gangster’s business—claims he insists are completely false.

A2Z Entertainment announced on December 9th that Cho chose to leave both programs, saying he feels responsible for the controversy and doesn’t want viewers or production staff to feel burdened by the scrutiny surrounding him. “He understands the discomfort viewers are feeling and didn’t want the teams to carry that pressure,” the agency said.

Both Cho and the agency stressed they will respond forcefully. “The allegations are not true,” they emphasized, promising swift legal action to clear his name and restore his reputation.

The agency also reiterated that Cho has no relationship with the man identified as Choi, who is rumored online to have links to organized crime, and denied claims that Cho accepted cash or luxury gifts in exchange for promoting Choi’s franchise. “Those assertions are entirely false,” they said.

The controversy started when a post accusing Cho of benefiting from ties to Choi surfaced online, sharing photos to back the claim. Even after deleting the post, the user vowed to “continue exposing” the comedian, escalating public debate.

Despite Cho’s full denial, online reactions continued to say viewers felt “uncomfortable watching him on TV,” and petitions requesting his removal reportedly began appearing on his show’s online board.

Cho expressed gratitude for the concern, criticism, and support, saying he’ll reflect and hopes to return with “healthier laughter.”
