It has been confirmed that the mother of BTS member Suga is the owner of a lucrative commercial building in Hannam-dong, one of Seoul’s most exclusive and affluent neighborhoods.

The property is currently estimated to be worth approximately 17.3 billion won ($12.2 million), according to real estate reports on December 4th.

Records show that the land and original building were purchased in December 2022 for roughly 10.8 billion won ($7.6 million) by a corporate entity named ‘Na Geum Co., Ltd.’ The company is represented by Suga’s mother, Han Na Geum, and appears to be a private family corporation with no other employees.

The existing structure was demolished after the purchase. Construction on a modern replacement began in 2023 and was completed in June of this year. The new building has two basement levels, six above-ground floors, and a rooftop terrace, covering a total floor area of over 20,000 square feet.

The building is already buzzing with tenants. Most notably, the first floor is home to Chompi, a poke restaurant run by Suga’s older brother, Min Geum Jae.

The restaurant has become a hot spot since opening last month. Rumors that Suga’s brother is often present have drawn crowds of international fans on weekends, with many seen snapping photos outside the establishment. Other tenants include a restaurant on the basement level and a hair salon on the third floor.

Reports indicate that Suga himself recently visited the site, inspecting the surroundings to ensure that construction noise wasn’t disturbing the neighbors.

Real estate experts believe the purchase was a calculated move to capitalize on the massive redevelopment happening in the nearby Hannam 3 District. This area is currently undergoing the largest redevelopment project in Korean history, valued at over $5.6 billion, which is expected to revitalize the commercial district.

Hannam-dong is already the residence of choice for Korea’s elite. Other BTS members like Jin, RM and Jimin reportedly live in the neighborhood, along with top stars like G-Dragon and Bae Yong Joon.

“It’s well known that BTS members prefer Hannam-dong,” a local real estate agent noted. “They likely invested here after considering the area’s privacy and future growth.”

The investment has already paid off handsomely. According to real estate valuation platform Zip Poom, the property’s value has jumped by over 6 billion won ($4.2 million) in just three years since the acquisition.
