Dawn is opening up about his views on love and letting go.
On October 22nd, the artist appeared as a guest on episodes 6 and 7 of the TVING dating show EXchange 4, drawing attention with his candid remarks about relationships and moving on.
Introducing Dawn, host Lee Yong Jin commented that producers had been trying to bring him on since the previous season, to which Dawn admitted, “At the time, I wasn’t in a place where I could say yes,” subtly referring to his public breakup with HyunA.
Fellow panelist Simon Dominic teased, “Already getting that honest?” sparking laughter among the cast.
When asked whether he would be more open to meeting someone new or reuniting with an ex in a show like EXchange, Dawn was firm. “I’ve never reached out after a breakup, and even if they text me first, I never reply,” he said. “Once it’s over, it’s over. If you’ve already let go once, those same feelings would fade again.”
Later in the episode, a female contestant broke down in tears after believing her ex-boyfriend was on a date with someone else. Commenting on the scene, Lee Yong Jin asked Dawn, “Can you relate to that feeling?” After a pause, Dawn answered quietly, “I think I can… maybe a little,” leaving a faint tension in the room. Lee then playfully apologized—“Sorry about that”—making everyone laugh.
Dawn and HyunA first went public with their relationship in 2016 before announcing their split in 2022. HyunA has since married fellow singer Yong Jun Hyung in October 2024
