Kim Go Eun opened up about her dynamic with co-star Kim Gun Woo in You and Everything Else.
The drama tells the lifelong story of Eun Jung (Kim Go Eun) and Sang Yeon (Park Ji Hyun), two friends whose bond weaves through admiration, jealousy and resentment across decades. The pair’s tangled relationship is further tested by Sang Hak (Kim Gun Woo), who they met in the university photography club.
Some viewers have even joked online, “Wouldn’t it be better if Eun Jung and Sang Yeon dated each other and left Sang Hak out altogether?” Asked about those reactions, Kim laughed and quipped, “Well, they’re heterosexual, so…”
Speaking about Sang Hak’s role, Kim Go Eun noted, “Isn’t he just wonderful? Even in their thirties, I thought, ‘Eun Jung should meet a man like him.’ He’s a rare, stable type. Sang Yeon has her own story with him, but I felt Eun Jung wasn’t drawn to stability,” adding, “Outside the story, if you think realistically, Sang Hak is such a steady person. If you met him, I think you’d live a very healthy, happy life together—that’s my personal opinion.”
When asked about working alongside Kim Gun Woo, Kim Go Eun revealed a playful senior-junior dynamic: “He’s two years below me at the college. On set I teased him, saying, ‘Back in my day, juniors two years below us couldn’t even look us in the eye. The world’s gotten easier.’ It was all in good fun.” Kim Go Eun and Kim Gun Woo both graduated from Korea National University of Arts.
Kim Go Eun also praised her co-star’s personality: “In real life, Gun Woo is very gentle and incredibly kind. Ji Hyun and I joke around a lot, and he just accepts it all with generosity. In many ways, he’s very close to Sang Hak himself.”
