Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi has abruptly canceled his upcoming press conference at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival for his new film, The Final Piece. The last-minute decision comes as the actor faces a growing scandal in Japan involving allegations of a love triangle.
The festival, which kicks off this Wednesday, was set to feature a press event with Kentaro Sakaguchi on Thursday afternoon. However, BIFF officials announced the cancellation on Monday, citing “unforeseen circumstances involving the guest.” In their statement, they added, “We ask for your understanding regarding this sudden schedule change. Future schedules and interviews will be announced at a later date.”
The cancellation appears to be directly linked to a recent report by the Japanese weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun. The outlet alleged that Sakaguchi is currently living with a non-celebrity woman, a hair and makeup staff member, and has been for over four years.
Furthermore, the report claims that Kentaro Sakaguchi was also in a relationship with another popular actress, Mei Nagano, during this time. Her representatives reportedly confirmed the romance to the magazine but stated that she was unaware he was living with another woman. Shukan Bunshun had also previously reported that Mei Nagano and Kei Tanaka were having an affair. Kei has been married to the now-retired tarento and actress Sakura since 2011.

Kentaro Sakaguchi, a model-turned-actor, is a popular star in Japan, known for films like Our Little Sister and Copycat Criminal. He has recently gained more popularity in South Korea after starring opposite Lee Se Young in What Comes After Love, making his appearance at BIFF highly anticipated.
