JTBC is building anticipation for its new drama Waiting for Gyeongdo, releasing the first photos of stars Park Seo Joon and Won Ji An. The series, set to premiere in the second half of 2025, is a charming romance about a couple who date and break up twice, only to reunite years later under dramatic circumstances.

The story follows Lee Gyeong Do (Park Seo Joon) and Seo Ji Woo (Won Ji An), who first fall in love at twenty, date again at twenty-eight, and then meet for a third time. Now, he’s an entertainment reporter assigned to cover a major scandal, and she’s the wife of the powerful man at the center of it.

The newly released photos offer a glimpse into the couple’s sweet beginnings, capturing them in their fresh-faced twenties. Dressed in matching couple outfits against a bright seaside backdrop, the images perfectly capture a classic moment of youthful first love.

“The awkward but lovable romance of these twenty-year-old lovers, experiencing everything for the first time, is set to evoke memories of viewers’ own first loves,” the production team shared. They encouraged viewers to “look forward to the actors’ performances as they portray both the clumsy love of the past and their more mature love in the present.”

However, the photos have sparked some backlash online, as many viewers feel the age gap between the lead actors is too noticeable, given that Park Seo Joon is in his mid-late thirties and Won Ji An is in her mid-late twenties. Some fans expressed concern that Park Seo Joon’s more mature appearance doesn’t match the youthful, 20-year-old character he’s meant to portray.

“If you had to cast actors with a significant age gap, you should have at least chosen a younger-looking actor like Yim Si Wan,” one commenter said. Another viewer wrote, “Wait, they’re supposed to be 20?!” while others added, “I just can’t see it,” and “Isn’t this just their past at 20? Not that they’re supposed to be 20 the entire time?” Despite the criticism, many still appreciate Park Seo Joon’s acting and understand the challenges he may have faced in taking on this role.
