Lee Min Jung is facing criticism from international fans after sharing photos from her trip to Venice.
The controversy comes from photos of her posing with a luxury handbag in front of a crucifix, which many people found disrespectful and offensive.
Lee was in the city to support her husband Lee Byung Hun, whose new film No Other Choice was invited to the competitive section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
During her visit, Lee went sightseeing with Son Ye Jin, her husband’s co-star in the film. She later uploaded photos taken by Son, captioning them, “Photo by yejin in Venice.”
However, the photos quickly drew backlash. In the images, Lee poses at various angles in front of a statue of Jesus on the cross, with a luxury handbag prominently displayed. International fans flooded the comments, arguing that using a sacred religious symbol as a backdrop to highlight a fashion item was inappropriate and offensive.
