Kim Jong Kook has announced his marriage, but his honeymoon will have to wait.
On August 18th, OSEN reported exclusively that the singer will not head off on a honeymoon after the wedding. Instead, he is expected to focus first on pre-arranged schedules before taking time away.
That morning, Kim shared a handwritten letter on his fan café, telling fans, “I’m getting married.” He added, “This year marks my 30th debut anniversary. I didn’t end up making the album I wanted, but I met my other half.”
Later the same day, Kim officially shared the news during SBS’s Running Man, where he has been a cast member since its very first episode on July 11th, 2010. His decision to reveal the news on the show reportedly stemmed from trust and loyalty toward the production team and fellow cast members after 15 years together.
Asked about the reason for announcing the marriage through Running Man, an insider told OSEN, “It seems he trusted that ‘Running Man’ would be the place he could share it.” The rep added, “For more details, please check the broadcast,” declining to elaborate further.
Details surrounding the ceremony and Kim’s fiancée remain tightly guarded. The wedding is expected to be a private event with only family and close friends invited.
Kim’s agency also emphasized caution. “Aside from what Kim himself revealed in his letter, there’s nothing further we can confirm about his wife-to-be or their marriage. This is his personal life, so even we don’t know much either,” they shared.
As for the honeymoon, the agency clarified, “It’s not possible to leave right now. He has scheduled commitments and regular variety show appearances, so those must take priority,” adding, “Plans beyond the wedding haven’t been finalized yet. If there are details to share in the future, we’ll release an official statement.”
