Im Dohwa, formerly known as AOA’s Chanmi, has tied the knot.
The newlywed singer-turned-actress made her first appearance as a married woman on TV Chosun’s variety show Chosun’s Real Romantic. Dohwa—who had previously faced public scrutiny that led to her departure from AOA before shifting to acting—captured attention again with her surprise wedding announcement.
In an interview segment alongside her groom, Dohwa revealed, “I met my husband at church,” explaining their romance began as a “church oppa” connection. She added, “We’ve already been living together for about six months. Everyone around us already thought of us as a married couple.”
Although still familiar to fans as Chanmi, Dohwa explained, “It’s been about two years since I legally changed my name. I know people need time to adjust, so even when they still call me Chanmi, I let it slide. I figure one day everyone will just naturally call me Dohwa.”
Her husband described her personality with love: “She may look glamorous on the outside, but she’s very quiet and reserved.” When asked about her current worries, Dohwa laughed, “There’s no time to worry—I just want to finish the wedding and head straight to the honeymoon.”
The show also spotlighted Dohwa’s mother, Lim Chun Sook, who runs a youth shelter and has dedicated years to supporting underprivileged teens. Dohwa also appeared on You Quiz on the Block. She shared her own regret, saying, “Because I was focused on caring for other kids, I often felt I wasn’t there enough for my daughter. That’s something I really regret.”
Her wedding ceremony was filled with emotional moments, including a surprise performance by her younger sister, who danced to AOA’s hit track “Heart Attack.” Her former AOA bandmates Jimin, Seolhyun and Hyejeong were also spotted at the ceremony as guests. The bride, surrounded by family and friends, closed the day by reflecting, “It feels like I’ve wrapped up the first chapter of my life well.”
