Yoon Si Yoon opened up about his painful family history on the August 17th broadcast of SBS’s My Little Old Boy, leaving host Shin Dong Yup visibly emotional.

The episode featured the actor introducing his mother to the public for the first time during a trip to Mongolia. The two shared candid memories of their difficult past.

Yoon’s mother revealed that she gave birth to him at the age of 20, but was forced to part from him after only 100 days in order to make a living. “I left him with my parents and could barely see him once a year. Sometimes, even that didn’t work if I got sick. I didn’t even know when he started walking,” she recalled, her eyes welling up with tears.

She continued to the times she worked at a beauty salon. “I told him not to call me ‘mom’ in front of customers because if they thought I was married, they wouldn’t give me work,” she shared. “But I still wanted him near me, so I kept him by my side. When the customers left, he would run around shouting ‘Mom! Mom!’ at the top of his lungs.”

Breaking down further, she recounted a memory from his elementary school years: “When you were in third grade, I brought you to live with me. You said there was a sports day at school. I couldn’t go because I had to work at the salon, but I found a moment to stop by. And there you were, crouched by yourself next to the bleachers, eating a cup of ramen. I realized then that living together was only my selfish wish, so I had to send you back.”

Hearing this, Yoon Si Yoon tearfully admitted, “So that’s why you sent me away? I never knew. You were only in your mid-20s back then.”

The heartfelt story left Shin Dong Yup in tears. The veteran MC confessed, “It was hard to watch. I also had a difficult childhood. When I was four, my grandfather’s business failed and my family fell apart. My father was a teacher but had to pay off debt, and my mother had to work. I lived apart from my parents, and every time I saw them once a week, I cried and begged them to take me home. Grandfather would even hit me with a stick, saying I was making things harder for my parents.”
