Park Min Young is stepping into high-stakes territory as the mastermind of a new heist team in Confidence Queen, TV CHOSUN’s upcoming weekend miniseries premiering September 6th.
The K-caper comedy follows three master con artists with different specialties as they take aim at the worst villains of the age. Park plays Yoon Yi Rang, an heiress with an IQ of 165, in the top 1% of brains and beauty, who leads the team with razor-sharp planning, daring execution, and flashes of playful charm.
“When I read the script, the reason Yi Rang couldn’t help but become a sociopath really hit me,” Park revealed when asked why she chose the role. Drawing parallels to her own personality, she added, “When I’m working, I also show an INTJ side—Yi Rang seems to have that too. She may look like she’s winging it, but she imagines every scenario and even has Plans B and C ready to go. That’s something I relate to… though I’m not as crazy as she is.”
Proud of the show’s universal appeal, Park said, “It feels like we’ve created a K-caper that crosses borders, with themes that everyone around the world can feel in their hearts.”
The production team had nothing but praise: “The more we shot, the more we realized no one but Park Min Young could have played Yi Rang. She’s even conquered the caper genre—don’t miss her performance in ‘Confidence Queen.’”
Confidence Queen premieres September 6th at 9:10 PM KST on TV CHOSUN and Coupang Play in Korea, and will stream globally via Amazon Prime Video in 240 territories outside Korea.
