BoA has canceled her upcoming concert after being diagnosed with acute osteonecrosis, a serious bone condition that requires surgery.
SM Entertainment released an official statement on July 15th, explaining that the singer had recently sought medical attention for worsening knee pain. Doctors diagnosed her with acute osteonecrosis, a condition where bone tissue dies due to a lack of blood supply.
“BoA was advised to avoid intense physical activity, including dancing, to prevent the condition from worsening and to undergo surgery as soon as possible,” the agency said. “Following medical advice, she has decided to move forward with the procedure.”
As a result, BoA’s upcoming concert on August 30 and 31 has been canceled.
“This year marks BoA’s meaningful 25th anniversary since debut,” the agency added. “While the concert has been canceled, the new album she has completed will be released as planned. We will share updates on any future concert plans depending on her recovery progress.”
BoA debuted in 2000 and has remained a pioneering figure in the industry for over two decades.
