With its July 23 premiere drawing closer, fantasy blockbuster Omniscient Reader: The Prophet lifted the curtain at a production press conference held on June 17th. Director Kim Byung Woo was joined by stars Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Min Ho, Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, and Nana, who offered behind-the-scenes stories and fresh insights into one of the summer’s most anticipated releases.

The fantasy action film features distinctive characters in a world where reality and fantasy harmoniously blend. Ahn Hyo Seop introduced his character Kim Dok Ja, saying, “He’s just an everyday guy—someone you could easily see around you,” adding, “He ends up fighting to reshape a destroyed world alongside an unpredictable group of allies.”

Lee Min Ho takes on the role of Yoo Jung Hyuk, who possesses perfect looks that captivate anyone who sees him. About playing the role, the actor confessed, “To be honest, I’m not really into characters who are just obviously cool. I tend to prefer roles where the character becomes cool by overcoming some inner flaw or struggle. But Joong Hyuk starts off already too perfect, so there was pressure.”

He added with a smile, “If I had to rate my resemblance to the original character, I’d… maybe 10%?”

Chae Soo Bin and Shin Seung Ho both recalled being instantly hooked after reading the script for the first time. Meanwhile, Nana said it was the creative team behind the project that sealed the deal. “I had faith in Director Kim Byung Woo and the production company behind ‘Along with the Gods,'” she said.

The actress also shared her excitement about finally diving into the fantasy action genre. “I’ve always been curious about acting in front of a blue screen,” she said. “And I’ve had a hunger for action for a while. There’s a lot more freedom in fantasy action, and I wanted to challenge myself.”

Meanwhile, Omniscient Reader: The Prophet is set to open in theaters across Korea on July 23rd.
