Sunwoo, a member of the K-pop group THE BOYZ, has come under fire for a remark he made about fellow member Juyeon’s recent dating rumors. Following backlash from fans, Sunwoo issued a public apology.

Sunwoo posted a message on a fan communication platform on June 10th that read, “Don’t feed the clowns and come play Rummikub.” Many interpreted the comment as a dismissive reference to the dating rumors surrounding Juyeon.

The rumors began after Juyeon was linked to Shin Si Ah, following their appearance together in the short film YOUNGYOUNG, which was featured as a special screening at the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival. Fans pointed to several pieces of “evidence” fueling the speculation, including similar interview responses, matching accessories, and a photo posted by Shin Si Ah that appeared to show a man’s hand.

Both parties’ agencies denied the rumors, calling them “completely untrue.” However, Sunwoo’s response to the situation sparked criticism, with many fans feeling their concerns were being mocked. In response, Sunwoo later issued an apology, stating: “I spoke and played around too carelessly without fully understanding the situation. I imagine this made you feel even more upset. I sincerely apologize.”

What began as a single incident has now grown into a broader controversy. Online communities and fan forums have seen a rise in allegations involving other members of THE BOYZ. One viral post accused Juyeon of previously being linked to several public figures, including Kim Minju, Roh Yoon Seo and most recently Shin Si Ah. The post also alleged that members of the group were frequently seen at clubs in Seoul’s Gangnam district.

More seriously, the tweet accused currently enlisted member Lee Sangyeon of introducing Juyeon and Lee Jaehyun to underage girls (reportedly born in 2004 and 2006) at a drinking party. The tweet claimed, “A 1996-born leader was drinking with 2006-born girls along with younger members,” raising concerns among fans and the general public. Related posts have continued to gain traction, with some receiving over 1.8 million views.

THE BOYZ Face Fan Exodus as Scandal Spreads Online

Following the initial backlash, IST Entertainment released a statement warning of legal action.

The company stated that “false information is being recklessly spread across social media,” and that they are “collecting evidence through monitoring and fan reports” in preparation for criminal complaints and police filings.

However, the agency’s legal warning seems to have intensified fan outrage. Many fans are declaring their departure from the fandom, and Twitter has been flooded with posts offering to sell official merchandise. When Sunwoo’s remarks surfaced on June 11th, related tweets surpassed 32,600 and exceeded the number of posts celebrating BTS Jimin’s military discharge.

Public concern continues to grow, especially due to serious claims involving minors. Some online users are comparing the unfolding scandal to the infamous Kim Soo Hyun case and expressed fears that this may become another high-profile controversy with far-reaching consequences.
