BoA’s Agency Takes Legal Action Over Malicious Graffiti in Seoul

BoA’s agency has issued a statement regarding the insulting graffiti found on the streets of Seoul.

On June 11th BoA’s agency, SM Entertainment, released an official statement saying, “We have confirmed that graffiti insulting BoA has been found in various locations around Seoul,” and added, “We reported it to the authorities after personally checking the areas near Gangnam Station.”

They continued, “The investigation is underway at the relevant police station, and we plan to file a formal complaint as well.”

Furthermore, they stated, “Spreading false information that harms someone’s reputation or insulting them to damage their name is a crime,” emphasizing, “We will respond firmly and without leniency to such criminal acts.”

The agency stated, “We are closely monitoring the spread of false information, personal attacks, and insults directed at BoA on social media,” and added, “We are taking legal action against cases that clearly violate the law.”

Previously, reports surfaced online about malicious graffiti containing insults directed at BoA being spotted in various locations around central Seoul.

One netizen wrote, “I saw insults targeting BoA written on the pillars of electronic billboards on the way from Gangnam Station to Sinnonhyeon Station. There are many pillars, and quite a few had graffiti. It’s shocking.” Another netizen reported a similar incident, saying, “I saw it in the middle of Yeoksam-daero as well.”

In response, fans shared the locations of the graffiti and voluntarily took part in cleaning up the vandalism late into the night.
