Rapper and producer KOALA has publicly apologized for his involvement in the alleged assault of a minor fan, nearly eight months after the incident first came to light.

On June 4th, KOALA shared a handwritten letter on his personal social media account, addressing the controversy and expressing remorse for his actions.

“I sincerely want to apologize to the victim and their family,” he wrote. “I hoped to apologize in person, but I fully understand if they don’t wish to see me. They should never have had to go through such an experience, and I deeply regret the pain I caused. I also want to extend my apology to anyone else who may have been directly or indirectly affected by this incident.”

He continued, “This situation is entirely my responsibility. While I wasn’t the first to use violence, the person who did was part of my group. I played a major role in escalating the situation due to poor judgment and a simple misunderstanding. It should never have gone that far, and that’s on me.”

KOALA added, “Facing this has not been easy, but it gave me time to reflect and grow. I’m not here to make excuses or shift the blame—only to acknowledge the lessons I’ve learned. I’m sincerely working on becoming a better person.”

The controversy dates back to October 2023, when KOALA was accused of assaulting a fan in Seoul’s Apgujeong district. The incident also affected singer Jessi, who had recently signed with the same agency. She terminated her contract just a month later and issued her own apology regarding the matter. Following a police investigation, Jessi was cleared of allegations related to harboring a suspect, while KOALA has been referred to the prosecution on assault charges.
