
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina lit up the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood with its star-studded U.S. premiere on Tuesday, June 3rd, drawing enthusiastic crowds of fans and media. The film had already made its global debut at its official world premiere on May 22nd, ahead of the Hollywood celebration.
Leading lady Ana de Armas was joined on the red carpet by several of her co-stars and creative team members, including the legendary Keanu Reeves, who reprises his role as John Wick. Reeves attended the premiere alongside his longtime partner, artist Alexandra Grant.
The premiere also saw appearances from a host of cast members, including Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, Victoria Comte, David Castañeda, and Daniel Bernhardt. Director Len Wiseman was also present, along with musical guests Evanescence and K.Flay, who collaborated on the end-title track “Fight Like a Girl.”
Although Choi Sooyoung did not attend the Hollywood premiere or earlier promotional events, her agency, Saram Entertainment, offered fans a first look at her character through newly released stills from the film.
Sooyoung plays Katla Park, the daughter of Il Seong (played by action choreographer Jung Doo Hong), and a close associate of de Armas’ character, Eve Macarro. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is set during the timeline of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, expanding on the rich universe of the franchise.
In the film, Katla is a key figure in Eva’s first mission, appearing in a visually intense club scene where she is under Eva’s protection. The stills reveal a striking and mysterious first look at Sooyoung in the role.
Reflecting on her character, Sooyoung previously shared, “What struck me most about the script was the emotional dynamic between father and daughter. Family means everything to me in real life, so the story really resonated with me.”
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina continues to build excitement ahead of its release, promising a gritty and emotionally charged expansion of the John Wick universe with an international ensemble cast.
