Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2, written and directed by Hwang Dong Hyuk, has been crowned the most-watched show in America, according to new industry data.
Variety reported on the 30th KST that Nielsen’s 2024-2025 season multi-platform rankings placed Squid Game Season 2 at the top of the charts. The survey tracked U.S. viewers and marked the first time streaming content was included alongside traditional cable TV programming.
Squid Game Season 2 averaged 27.1 million total viewers during its 35-day tracking period, outpacing second-place Netflix series Adolescence by a staggering 8.1 million views.
The Netflix juggernaut saw particularly strong viewership among younger audiences. The series drew 17.4 million views from viewers between the ages of 18 and 49, nearly double the 9.2 million views of Adolescence.
Traditional TV programs were outpaced by content available on streaming platforms, with five of the top 10 shows in the Top Shows category being Netflix originals.
Meanwhile, Netflix is set to release Squid Game Season 3 on the 27th of next month.
