Park Bo Gum caught viewers completely off guard when he suddenly appeared as a weather forecaster on JTBC’s evening newscast.
The actor made his surprise cameo on Monday’s Newsroom, dressed in a Korean national team tracksuit with a Korean flag pin on his chest. “It’s early summer—a season that feels like the start of something new,” he said.
Delivering the forecast with poised clarity, he continued, “Tomorrow’s weather will feel as intense as the anticipation for our drama. Expect a high of 26 degrees Celsius in Seoul, about as warm as today. And as we head into June, those temperatures will only climb higher.”
He wrapped up with a caring reminder: “There will be significant temperature differences between day and night for a while. Please take care of your health, everyone.”
The surprise appearance was part of a promotional campaign for his upcoming JTBC drama Good Boy, set to premiere this Saturday. “I’m taking on a new role as Yoon Dong Joo, a former Olympic boxing gold medalist turned special task force officer,” Park introduced. “I wanted to share the beginning of that journey with all of you. I hope you’ll tune in and show lots of love.”
Viewers quickly took to social media to share their reactions, flooding comment sections with notes like, “Did not see that coming,” “Who knew weather could be this fun?” and “Park Bo Gum’s diction is flawless—he nailed it.”
This isn’t the first time JTBC has used celebrity weather anchors as a promotional tool. Actors Ong Seong Wu and former IZ*ONE member turned actress Kim Min Ju have also made headlines with their own surprise Newsroom weather segments.
