BTS’s Jin has shared the behind-the-scenes story of how Hollywood icon Tom Cruise came to appear on his self-produced YouTube show “Run Jin.”
During his May 17th guest appearance on SBS Power FM’s Wendy’s Youngstreet, Jin shared the full story behind Cruise’s cameo. “We didn’t really do anything huge together,” Jin said modestly, adding with a smile, “I’m a little worried people might expect too much and be disappointed.”
Still, the collaboration came with its own unforgettable moments. “We talked, and—just a little TMI—I even gave him a dinner recommendation,” Jin said, teasing just enough to spark fan curiosity.
What particularly surprised the audience was Jin’s revelation that Cruise himself had initiated the collaboration. “It wasn’t that we invited him—he actually said he wanted to be on the show. So we built the format around that,” Jin explained.

Cruise had visited Korea on the 7th to promote Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, and Jin even went to see the movie in theaters in advance to prepare for their meetup.
One of Jin’s most cherished memories from the experience took place on Parents’ Day. “I asked him if I could get a selfie for my mom,” he recalled. “But he said, ‘Why not FaceTime her right now?'”
The result was a surprise video call between Tom Cruise and Jin’s entire family—including his mother, grandfather, aunt, and uncle. Unsurprisingly, they were shocked and delighted. Host Wendy responded, “Your family must have been over the moon. I mean, who gets to FaceTime with Tom Cruise?”
With one of K-pop’s biggest stars and a Hollywood legend sharing the screen, fans are now eagerly anticipating the “Run Jin” episode.
