Fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar Korea unveiled a photoshoot and interview with Lee Jun Young on the 29th. In this spread, Lee captured the essence of youth finding answers through life’s trials and tribulations.

During the post-shoot interview, the conversation turned to the Netflix series When Life Gives You Tangerines, which dominated Netflix’s Top 10 charts in 39 countries worldwide, achieving cult-like popularity.

In When Life Gives You Tangerines, Lee played Young Beom, a hopelessly devoted boyfriend who only had eyes for his girlfriend Geum Myung (IU). When the interviewer jokingly asked, “Why did you do that?”—immediately catching his drift— Lee quipped, “I know, right? Why didn’t I serve her sungnyung? Everyone I meet asks me this question, and I’m just as frustrated about it,” drawing laughter from the room.

He continued, “My mom has already rewatched the drama four or five times. She tells me she cries every time she watches it. My family rarely talks about my projects in such detail before, but ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ deals with family love that resonates with all generations, which I think made that possible,” revealing his affection for the project.

Lee has also successfully transformed into the character Geum Sung Je in Netflix’s Weak Hero Class 2, which premiered on the 25th. Regarding this role, he shared, “Director (Han Jun Hee) told me ‘This is just you, Jun Young,’ which is why I decided to take the part. He’s actually quite similar to me. The romantic side of me as a person is also present in Sung Je,” amplifying anticipation for his performance.

Meanwhile, Lee Jun Young will next star as the lead character Do Hyun Jung in KBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama Pump Up the Healthy Love, premiering on the 30th.
