BTS members RM and Jimin, along with BLACKPINK’s Rosé, are vying for American Music Awards (AMA) trophies. Their nominations as solo artists rather than group members have drawn significant attention.

According to industry sources on April 28th, RM, Jimin, Stray Kids, ATEEZ and Rosé have been nominated in the “Favorite K-Pop Artist” category at this year’s AMA.

This marks the first time RM, Jimin, and Rosé have competed for awards as solo artists. As BTS members, RM and Jimin first won the “Favorite Social Artist” award at this ceremony in 2018, before claiming three awards the following year: “Favorite Social Artist,” “Favorite Pop Duo/Group,” and “Tour of the Year.” In 2020, they took home trophies for “Favorite Social Artist” and “Favorite Pop Duo/Group,” followed by wins in the “Artist of the Year,” “Favorite Pop Duo/Group,” and “Favorite Pop Song” categories in 2021.

Rosé has also been nominated in the “Collaboration of the Year” category for her hit song “APT.” Released last October, the track remained on Billboard’s Hot 100 for 26 consecutive weeks, setting a record for the longest-charting song by a female K-pop artist. With an additional nomination for “Favorite K-Pop Artist,” she’s competing for two potential wins.

The AMA recognizes the most influential and iconic artists of the year. Along with the Billboard Music Awards and Grammy Awards, it’s considered one of America’s three major music awards ceremonies. This year’s AMA ceremony will be held on May 26th in Los Angeles.
