Choi Sooyoung is stepping into the global spotlight with a role in the upcoming Hollywood action blockbuster Ballerina, a spin-off set in the John Wick universe.
The star took to social media to share exciting news on April 25th. Posting two character posters from the movie, she wrote, “She must be protected. Meet ‘Katla’ in Ballerina on June 6th.”
Ballerina is a spin-off from the John Wick universe, expanding the world introduced in the original series. The film centers on Rooney, a ballerina-turned-assassin trained by the infamous Ruska Roma—the same secretive organization that taught John Wick his deadly skills. Rooney sets out on a high-stakes mission of revenge after her family is brutally murdered.
Ana de Armas of No Time to Die stars as Rooney and is set to showcase intense Ruska Roma-style combat. Keanu Reeves will also appear, reprising his iconic role as John Wick.
Choi Sooyoung will play the role of Katla Park. Her performance is highly anticipated, as fans are eager to see what kind of presence she’ll bring to this adrenaline-fueled story.
She is also set to appear in tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama Second Shot at Love, which premieres on May 12th at 8:50 PM.
