Goldmedalist announced on April 15 that Kim Soo Hyun filed a police complaint regarding malicious posts and false information spreading online.

“Recently, malicious comments, baseless posts and false claims targeting Kim Soo Hyun have been recklessly uploaded and circulated on the internet,” the agency stated. “Repeated and unverified speculation is misleading the public and damaging the artist’s reputation.”

Goldmedalist emphasized that such behavior is a serious criminal offense and should not be taken lightly. The agency confirmed it had submitted a formal complaint to the authorities on April 14th for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and for insult under the Criminal Act. The complaint is based on reports from fans and the agency’s own monitoring.

The agency also called out the growing issue of so-called “cyber wreckers”—anonymous users who create Shorts and videos that spread fake news and fuel cyberbullying. “As the identities of these individuals are increasingly being revealed and legal action is taken, we too will pursue strong legal measures in cooperation with international legal representatives, especially on global platforms like YouTube and X (formerly Twitter),” the statement continued.

Goldmedalist added that more complaints will follow against defamatory content and reiterated its commitment to protecting the actor’s rights through firm legal action.
