Koo Jun Yup, aka DJ Koo, has put his career on hold following the tragic passing of his wife, the late Barbie Hsu, but the industry is standing firmly behind him.
According to Taiwanese media, DJ Koo canceled all scheduled appearances after Barbie Hsu’s sudden passing. His planned participation in a February flash mob event and a March beauty clinic opening in Taiwan has been postponed indefinitely, with no timeline for his return to the public eye.
Despite the cancellations, the beauty clinic involved expressed unwavering support for him. On March 16th, ET Today reported that the clinic director issued a statement saying, “We will wait for Koo Jun Yup’s return for as long as necessary.” They continued, “There is no need to worry about the contract. We will cover all costs on our end and provide him with whatever support he needs, emotionally and psychologically.”

On the 15th, DJ Koo attended Barbie Hsu’s farewell ceremony at Chin Pao San Cemetery in Taiwan alongside her grieving family. Photographs from the event showed him visibly thinner, with swollen eyes, reflecting the immense grief he has been enduring. According to local reports, his health has deteriorated as he has been unable to eat properly and has been continuously crying since Barbie Hsu’s death.
Meanwhile, Barbie Hsu’s mother has publicly taken aim at her daughter’s ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei. In a pointed message on social media, she wrote, “Imagine what it feels like for a kind woman to endure 10 years of abuse.”
Local media widely interpreted this as a reference to Hsu’s alleged suffering during her marriage to Wang. In response, many netizens expressed their condolences and support, commenting, “She must have endured so much.”
