The long-anticipated drama Unfriend (literal title), starring Kim Seon Ho and Park Gyu Young, is finally making its way to viewers via the streaming platform TVING, according to OSEN.
A representative from the production team told the outlet, “This is not yet confirmed. It is still being discussed internally.”
Unfriend is based on Hong Kong novelist Chan Ho-kei’s novel In the Net, and follows the story of a woman who refuses to believe her sister died by suicide. As she investigates the mysterious circumstances surrounding her sister’s death, she encounters an enigmatic man who becomes entangled in her quest for truth.
The production was originally titled In the Net after the novel, but was ultimately renamed Unfriend.
Produced by Yong Film, this upcoming mystery series generated significant buzz from the start thanks to the collaboration between acclaimed film director Kim Ji Woon of I Saw the Devil, The Age of Shadows and Park Bo Ram, who directed SBS’s Through the Darkness.
Adding to the anticipation, Kim Seon Ho, the versatile actor known for Start-Up, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, and the film The Childe, takes on the male lead, while Park Gyu Young, who has built an impressive portfolio with Sweet Home and Squid Game 2, stars as the female lead, promising compelling on-screen chemistry.
Unfriend, which completed filming in November 2023, consists a total of six episodes.
