Park Min Young, who took home the Best Artist Award and the Grand Prize for Best Actress at the 9th Asia Artist Awards in Bangkok on December 27th, recently sat down for an interview with Star News.
When asked which celebrity from the AAA 2024 lineup she’d love to work with in a drama or variety show, she didn’t hesitate to name Kim Hye Yoon. “We weren’t acquainted before. I saw her for the first time at AAA 2024, and she was just so adorable. Fans call her ‘My Melody Princess,’ and she really looked like one—I was surprised! She’s so petite, dainty, and humble, like a cute little sister. I’m a total introvert, so I usually have a hard time starting conversations, but she was so adorable that I couldn’t help but talk to her first,” she shared.
The actor seating arrangement at AAA 2024 also caught the attention of fans worldwide. Park Min Young was seated with Kentaro Sakaguchi on her right and Kim Soo Hyun, Byeon Woo Seok, and Kim Hye Yoon to her left.
Reflecting on her first meeting with Kim Soo Hyun, she said, “I had never met him before, so I just greeted him with ‘Nice to meet you.’ He’s really expressive and full of energy. At one point, he sang his heart out, then got shy and asked, ‘That was a little weird, right?’ We also talked about singers we both like, saying things like, ‘He’s so good,’ and ‘How does he do that?’”
On the other hand, she and Kentaro Sakaguchi were already acquainted, having first met at a drama awards ceremony in Daegu in October 2018, where they both received a special commendation.
“Since he was the only foreigner around, and I happened to be sitting next to him, I asked, ‘Do you remember that time?’ He not only remembered but even mentioned the exact name of the award and the ceremony. I was so impressed by his memory! My Japanese is at a toddler level, so we ended up having a trilingual conversation, mixing English and Korean,” she recalled with a laugh.
