Following the sudden passing of Kim Sae Ron on February 16th, industry attention turns to her final drama Day by Day (literal title), which may soon see the light of day.
According to Xportsnews’ report on the 19th, while Day by Day previously faced broadcast delays, the seven-episode series has recently completed post-production and stands ready for release.
Despite earlier reports suggesting Kim had departed the project following a DUI incident, Xportsnews has confirmed these claims were false. The late actress had completed all her filming commitments for the series.
Based on the webtoon of the same name, Day by Day chronicles the touching moments of first love and deep friendship during bright school days. Kim portrays Han Yeo Ul, a basketball-loving student, in what would become her final role. The story follows Yeo Ul navigating feelings between childhood friend Oh Ho Soo (Lee Chae Min) who harbors a crush on her, and her own crush on older student Kwon Ho Jae (Ryoo Ui Hyun). The narrative also explores her friendship with Kim Joo Yeon (Yuju) who misunderstands Oh Ho Soo’s intentions.
Director Kim Min Jae shared with Xportsnews, “Kim Sae Ron was a natural-born actress. Beyond her passion for acting, she had a deep understanding of her roles and an exceptional ability to incorporate directorial guidance into her performance. She would have surely risen to become a global star. This is truly heartbreaking.”
The industry now watches with keen interest whether Kim Sae Ron’s final work will reach audiences.
