Apple TV Plus has announced the production of KPOPPED (working title), an eight-episode music competition series.
Executive produced by Lionel Richie, the show features PSY, who helped bring K-Pop to the global stage with “Gangnam Style”, alongside three-time Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion.
Each episode will see international music stars reimagine their hit songs and collaborate with top K-pop idols for electrifying performances. The competition will culminate in a live concert in Seoul, where the audience will determine the ultimate winner.
In addition to Lionel Richie, the executive producers include Miky Lee (Vice Chairwoman of CJ), Megan Thee Stallion, Greg Foster, and Moira Ross. Joining the team are Shin Hyung Kwan, Head of Music Content at CJ ENM, and Hong Joon Ki, Head of Strategic Initiatives at CJ ENM, both renowned for their expertise in K-Pop variety shows and music content for Mnet. Eureka Productions’ Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wesley Dening, David Tibballs, and Bruce Eskowitz will also serve as executive producers.
