Robert Pattinson made an unexpected appearance on Korea’s leading variety show Running Man, with a preview dropping during SBS’s February 2nd broadcast.

The preview shows the Running Man cast members, transformed into slaves from the historical era, roaming the streets of Seoul while calling out, “We’re handsome.” While searching for a medical expert to heal their master’s health, the group coincidentally runs into Pattinson, who’s visiting the country to promote his upcoming film Mickey 17.

Song Ji Hyo immediately seized the moment, declaring “I’m a fan” while requesting a handshake, while fellow Ji Suk Jin playfully boasted, “We’re also stars in Korea.” The encounter took an amusing turn as the cast, dressed in tattered costumes, expressed their embarrassment at meeting the Hollywood A-lister in such attire. “Why did it have to be today? This is so embarrassing,” they lamented, drawing laughs from viewers.

Mickey 17, which marks director Bong Joon Ho’s first project since his four-Oscar sweep with Parasite (2019), follows the story of an expendable employee named Mickey who gets reprinted after death. The plot thickens when Mickey 17’s death crisis leads to the unexpected printing of Mickey 18. Pattinson takes on the titular role of Mickey.

Despite his busy schedule with upcoming projects, sources reveal that Pattinson strongly expressed his desire to visit South Korea, the home country of director Bong Joon Ho.

Mickey 17 is set for its world premiere in Korea on January 28th, ahead of its global release.
