Director Hyun Hae Ri couldn’t hold back tears during the press screening for her film Crypto Man. The screening was attended by the director herself, along with actors Ahn Woo Yeon, Min Sung Wook, Cha Jung Won and So Hee Jung.
Crypto Man is a crime thriller based on the true story of the devastating cryptocurrency crash that wiped out billions in investor funds. The film features the late Song Jae Rim in his final role. He portrays Yang Do Hyun, a charismatic figure who claims to be the mastermind behind the cryptocurrency ‘MOMMY.’
When asked about Song Jae Rim, Director Hyun Hae Ri became emotional. “I thought the character needed an enigmatic face,” she recalled. “After seeing his audition, I knew he was perfect for the role. He was incredibly knowledgeable about cryptocurrency and we had such an enjoyable conversation during the casting process. I immediately thought, ‘He’s the one.'”
She continued, “We collaborated closely throughout the filmmaking process, and he shared many valuable insights. Many people might have preconceived notions about him, but he was truly a warm and kind person. I miss him dearly and wish he could be here to see the film’s release.”
Crypto Man is set to hit theaters on January 15th.
