The Itaewon residence of Yoo Ah In, who is currently on trial for drug charges, has found a new owner—surprisingly, a seven-year-old child.
According to Biz Korea on December 26th, the property transfer documents filed with the court on December 19th reveal that the buyer of Yoo’s standalone house in Itaewon is a child born in July 2017. What’s more striking is that the 6.3 billion won ($4 million) purchase was reportedly made in cash, with no loans involved.
The property, which Yoo previously showcased on MBC’s show I Live Alone, was sold for 6.3 billion won last month. The buyer’s surname is Park, and industry sources indicate the child is likely the offspring of Park Hwa Mok, CEO of PIECE PEACE STUDIO, and designer Lee Su Hyun. Real estate industry insiders speculate that with a seven-year-old listed as the property owner, the actual investment cost, including gift taxes, could approach 10 billion won.
Fashion industry observers predict that the couple, who purchased the property under their child’s name, may likely convert the residence into either a company headquarters or retail space in the future.
Meanwhile, Yoo Ah In faces trial for allegedly administering propofol 181 times between September 2020 and March 2022, and illegally obtaining sleeping pill prescriptions under others’ names 44 times from May 2021 to August 2022. He also faces charges of instructing an acquaintance to destroy evidence and forcing companions to smoke marijuana. He received a four-year prison sentence on the second trial that took place on Christmas Eve.
