Jung Woo Sung has ultimately decided not to attend this year’s Blue Dragon Film Awards following revelations about his personal life, including a confirmed romantic relationship with a non-celebrity woman and his recent acknowledgment of fathering a child with model Moon Gabi.
The actor initially planned to attend the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony despite the controversy as he was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in 12.12: The Day. However, he has decided not to attend the event after much consideration.
On November 24th, Jung Woo Sung confirmed the birth of his child with Moon Gabi but clarified that he would not be marrying her, sparking mixed reactions from the public. Reports of his long-term relationship with a non-celebrity girlfriend surfaced soon after, adding fuel to the controversy.
His agency confirmed his decision not to attend the awards, stating, “It is true he will not appear at the ceremony,” but also noted, “We are still closely discussing the situation.” Regarding the controversies, they added, “We have no further comment on his personal life and will not be releasing an official statement.”
Jung Woo Sung has also taken a step back from public-facing roles. He has not signed any new advertising contracts since his NHN HanGame campaign ended in 2022 and resigned as a goodwill ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency in July, a role he had held for nine years.
Jung Woo Sung is currently filming a Disney Plus series titled Made in Korea.
