FT Island’s Choi Min Hwan is facing allegations of solicitation, prompting a swift response from his agency.
On October 25th, FNC Entertainment confirmed with OSEN that they are “currently verifying” the situation involving Choi Min Hwan and the alleged solicitation accusations.
The controversy began when Yulhee, a former LABOUM member and Choi Min Hwan’s ex-wife, uploaded a video on her YouTube channel revealing shocking details about her ex-husband. She stated, “He groped my private part and twisted my chest even in front of his parents. I thought he was just intoxicated and overly affectionate. Even the family made adult jokes to each other, so I just figured he was comfortable doing stuff like that, but it all started to piece together. I realized this isn’t something that would change.” Yulhee claimed that Choi Min Hwan had been a regular visitor to adult entertainment venues.
Following the release of the video, speculation began to circulate about Choi Min Hwan’s position with FT Island. With former member Choi Jong Hoon previously leaving the group amid his involvement in the “Burning Sun” scandal, fans are questioning whether Choi Min Hwan could face a similar fate if the allegations are proven true.
As expected, Choi Min Hwan of FTISLAND has virtually announced his retirement.
FNC Entertainment released an official statement on October 25th, saying, “While we cannot fully grasp the personal details surrounding his marital issues, Choi Min Hwan feels a deep sense of responsibility for disappointing the public and his viewers. As a result, he has decided to step away from all media activities, including the shows he appears on with his children. The statement continued, “We apologize for causing concern and inconvenience to many.”
KBS2’s The Return of Superman, where Choi Min Hwan has been a cast member, also confirmed to MK Sports, “Choi Min Hwan will be leaving the program, and there are no pre-recorded episodes at this time.”
