Jung Hae In is setting his sights on a new challenge, considering a lead role in an upcoming Japanese drama as his next project.
According to OSEN’s report on the 18th, Jung Hae In, fresh off his success in the film I, the Executioner (aka Veteran 2) and the drama Love Next Door, has been offered the male lead in a Japanese series and is positively reviewing the proposal.
This move would mark the actor’s first time starring in a Japanese production. In 2022, Jung Hae In collaborated with acclaimed Japanese director Takashi Miike in the Disney Plus original series Connect, which premiered globally at the 27th Busan International Film Festival. However, Connect was a Korea-Japan co-production led by Studio Dragon, making this potential new project Jung Hae In’s first purely Japanese production.
The Japanese drama in question is reportedly being developed by a local production company with a top-tier creative team. This offer reflects Jung Hae In’s growing prominence in Japan and highlights his expanding global presence.
Jung Hae In has been having a standout year, excelling in both film and television. His film I, the Executioner has drawn in over 7.4 million viewers, with his portrayal of a sociopathic villain receiving critical acclaim. Meanwhile, his first foray into romantic comedy, tvN’s Love Next Door, finished on a high note, achieving a peak rating of 8.5% (Nielsen Korea) during its final episode.
