Hyeri has come forward with a heartfelt apology regarding her initial reaction to the news of her ex-boyfriend, Ryu Jun Yeol, and his new relationship with Han So Hee.
On March 18th, Hyeri took to her Instagram to convey, “First of all, I sincerely apologize for the speculation and controversy caused by my personal emotions over the past few days. I think I failed to fully consider the ripple effects that even my smallest actions might bring. I sincerely apologize to anyone who was harmed by my actions.”
She reflected on the end of her 8-year relationship with Ryu Jun Yeol, stating, “In November, articles about ending our 8-year relationship broke out. The decision wasn’t made in haste, and even after the articles were released, we discussed talking things over. However, we haven’t had any contact or meetings since that conversation.” She continued, “And four months later, I think my emotions after coming across a new article were perceived not as actress Lee Hyeri but as just Lee Hyeri. I’m sorry for causing harm with my momentary emotions.”
Hyeri further explained her silence: “The reason I haven’t spoken about my actions over the past few days was because our conversations were too private, and I thought sharing them (with the public) would only increase fatigue. If this caused any confusion, I am sorry for that as well. Going forward, I will be more cautious about my words and actions.”
The situation gained traction on March 15th, when sightings of Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee’s Hawaii date spread, sparking rumors of their relationship. Shortly after, both actors’ agencies acknowledged the trip to Hawaii but remained vague regarding the dating speculation, stating, “We cannot confirm matters related to their personal lives.” This ambiguity led Hyeri to post a cryptic message on social media, which ignited speculations that Ryu Jun Yeol jumped ships.
