At the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Seoul, Disney Plus hosted its 2024 content lineup media day on the 12th, where Carol Choi, Disney’s head of Original Content Strategy, and Kim So Yeon, President of The Walt Disney Company Korea, along with directors Lee Kwon of A Shop for Killers and Shin Yeon Shick of Uncle Samsik, were in attendance.

During the event, Disney Plus’s local content team, led by Shin Ah Reum, shared, “Since its debut in January this year, ‘A Shop for Killers’ has become the most-watched program across Disney Plus in the APAC region.”

She continued, “It can be said to have successfully kicked off 2024. As many of you who have seen ‘A Shop for Killers’ might know, the series unveils secrets in a structure that alternates between the present and the past. It’s a unique project, not commonly seen in Korean content. It has delighted viewers with elements like Muay Thai and slingshots.” Adding, “Internally, it was a project we were confident enough to anticipate word-of-mouth buzz. As expected, there’s been significant demand for season 2, which we’re currently discussing closely.”

Based on the novel of the same name by Kang Ji Young, the series narrates the survival story of Ji An (Kim Hye Jun), targeted by mysterious killers due to the dangerous legacy left by her uncle Jin Man (Lee Dong Wook). This stylish new-wave action drama made its debut on Disney Plus on January 17th, captivating audiences with its unique blend of suspense and action.
