Netflix’s reality show Physical: 100 – Underground has unveiled a colossal and ruthless underground mine setting, promising a gripping season of physical competition like never before. Physical: 100 seeks to identify the ultimate physique among 100 contestants who pride themselves on their top-tier physical prowess. The upcoming second season is set against an unprecedented underground mine backdrop, adding an edge to the already thrilling contest. The release of the main poster and trailer has already captured widespread attention.

The main trailer, starting with contestants’ resolve like, “I must defend my pride as an athlete,” “Like it’s the Olympics,” and “Even if it kills me,” ignites an adrenaline rush.

Notably, Kim Dong Hyun declares, “I’ll give them a taste of Stun Gun,” showcasing the ferocity befitting Korea’s first UFC entrant and record holder for most wins. Following Kim Dong Hyun’s assertive presence, the phrase “I’ve been itching to fight in a match” hints at the legendary fighter’s awaited comeback. The extreme challenge faced by the Judo national team gold medalist Lee Won Hee also piques curiosity.

The scale of Physical: 100 – Underground is nothing short of breathtaking, with the set being twice the size of Season 1 and evolved quests. This season’s grand underground mine was vividly brought to life with the participation of The Moon Embracing the Sun and MAMA art director Lee Young Joo and set director Kim Kwang Seok, renowned for large stage productions.

Producer Jang Ho Ki shared, “The plywood used for the maze quest, if lined up, would stretch for 6 km, and transporting the walls alone required 60 dump trucks,” revealing the jaw-dropping production scale. “We even crafted over 150 meters of steel rails for the mine carts, and the sand used amounted to a whopping 300 tons,” he added.

The diverse and powerful lineup of participants—ranging from national athletes to actors, idols, an FBI agent, police officers, soldiers, martial arts trickers, and an arborist—is drawing global attention. Returning contender and Asia’s first World Firefighters Games champion, Hong Bum Seok, is also among those garnering excitement.

Meanwhile, Physical: 100 made history as the first Korean variety show to top Netflix’s Global TOP 10 TV Shows (Non-English) list. It has shaken the world by featuring in the TOP 10 lists in 82 countries and amassing a cumulative watch time of 192.63 million hours over six weeks. Physical: 100 – Underground is set to premiere globally on Netflix on March 19th.
