In the upcoming MBC drama Wonderful World, Cha Eun Woo is gearing up for a groundbreaking transformation that promises to show fans a side of him they’ve never seen before. Opposite the talented Kim Nam Joo, this pairing is already creating a buzz.

Wonderful World is a human mystery drama that delves into the life of Eun Soo Hyun (Kim Nam Joo), who seeks justice for her son’s death by taking matters into her own hands.

Cha Eun Woo steps into the shoes of Kwon Sun Yul, a character who, after becoming entangled in crime and losing his family, leads a rugged life on the fringes of society. Cha was drawn to the role because of Kwon’s deep-seated pain and trauma. “I was first attracted to the pain and wounds Kwon Sun Yul carries,” he shared, expressing his eagerness to portray the character’s journey toward healing and transformation.

Breaking away from his romantic and sweet image, Cha is set to play a tough character dealing with the underworld, a stark departure from anything he’s done before. “Kwon Sun Yul is rough and dark but lives life with meticulous planning. There’s a unique charm in his crude existence that I found appealing,” Cha revealed.

“Personally, I was drawn to Sun Yul’s honesty and unpretentious nature, and I wanted to ensure this was accurately conveyed in my performance. So, I approached the role with sincerity, minimizing any unnecessary force. Emotion portrayal was where I focused most of my energy. I constantly mulled over Sun Yul’s emotions and sentiments as I read the script, bringing these reflections to the set,” the actor explained, promising a deeply engaging performance.

The dynamic between Cha Eun Woo and Kim Nam Joo has also become a hot topic. “It was an honor to act alongside Kim Nam Joo. I learned a lot by observing her. Despite her ‘cold city woman’ image, she was incredibly warm and approachable, often breaking the ice with humor, which made the shooting experience quite fun,” he recounted.

Cha Eun Woo’s character, Kwon Sun Yul, while ostensibly working at a junkyard, leads a double life as the minion of a politician played by Park Hyuk Kwon. “Working closely with Park Hyuk Kwon was always a pleasure. Seeing him continually refine his lines and lead the set with ease was inspiring,” the star shared, highlighting another significant on-screen relationship.

As Wonderful World nears its premiere, Cha’s anticipation is palpable. “I hope people will say ‘Kwon Sun Yul is the perfect role for Cha Eun Woo,’ and find my portrayal compelling. I’ve poured my heart into this character, and I’m excited for viewers to follow our story,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the eagerly awaited drama Wonderful World will debut on MBC on March 1st at 9:50 PM KST, and will also be available on Disney Plus.
