YG Entertainment has officially confirmed G-Dragon’s departure, marking the conclusion of an 18-year collaboration since his debut in 2006 as a member of BIGBANG.
On December 20th, the company expressed gratitude on its official website, stating, “G-Dragon has been one of our key artists, and it has been an honor to work with him since his BIGBANG debut in 2006.”
The label added, “We sincerely wish him all the best for his new start, and we ask you to show continued support and encouragement.”
G-Dragon’s contract with YG ended in June of this year. When he faced drug accusations in October, the company explained, “It would be difficult for us to officially address the issue because G-Dragon is currently not under our label.”
Fans who came across the news commented, “It’s a good, clean break,” “YG without G-Dragon? I still can’t believe it,” “It was a good decision,” “It’s official. I’ll continue to support both G-Dragon and YG,” “Now that he’s with a new agency, fingers crossed we’ll get to see him make a comeback,” and “I’ve been waiting so long. I’d love to see you more.”
Meanwhile, G-Dragon has signed with GALAXY Corporation. His new agency will address his drug allegations and discuss his future activities in a press conference scheduled for December 21st. G-Dragon will not be in attendance.
