Kim Hye Soo and Ryu Jun Yeol each received the Best Actress and Actor awards at the 28th Chunsa International Film Festival, with Ryu Jun Yeol’s film The Night Owl bagging four trophies in total.
Kim Hye Soo said in her acceptance speech, “It was the hottest summer of the year when we were filming Smugglers. I want to thank the cast for being so supportive and the crew for helping me get over my fear of diving 6 meters underwater. Working with Yum Jung Ah and Jo In Sung on set was a truly enriching experience. I felt so blessed to collaborate with such great actors for the movie.”
Ryu Jun Yeol expressed in a video message, “It’s been over a year since The Night Owl came out. I believe this will be the last award I get this year for my role in the film. It really means a lot to me.”
Kim Jee Woon, the director of Cobweb, secured the Best Director award. Filled with gratitude, the director shared, “This award means a lot to me as it’s coming from fellow directors. I want to extend this honor to CEO Choi Jae Won and Song Kang Ho, who has collaborated with me on five projects. A big thanks to the main cast for their outstanding performances, the thirty-nine actors who aced intense auditions, and the dedicated staff who supported me throughout filming.”
