Lee Se Young and Kentaro Sakaguchi‘s upcoming romance drama What Comes After Love will be released on Coupang Play.
Director Moon Hyun Sun’s new series revolves around an exchange student Hong (Lee Se Young) and Jungo (Kentaro Sakaguchi), following their reunion in Korea five years after their breakup. The series is based on a novel of the same name, co-authored by South Korean writer Gong Ji Young and Hitonari Tsuji. The novel, appreciated for its emotional depiction of love and separation, received widespread acclaim upon its release.
Lee takes on the role of Hong, who is swept up in a whirlwind of emotions upon reuniting with her once-deeply loved Jungo. Sakaguchi portrays Jungo, a man living with the scars of regret.
Lee expressed her excitement, saying, “It’s an honor to be part of a project based on a novel I’ve always admired. I will do my best to portray the heart of someone looking at love. I’m also looking forward to working with Sakaguchi.”
Sakaguchi shared his anticipation as well, stating, “I’m really looking forward to working with the Korean staff. Above all, I’m thrilled to be part of a beautiful love story with the delicately talented Lee Se Young.”
Director Moon Hyun Sung conveyed his commitment, sharing, “I am delighted to direct a work that so finely depicts ‘love’. I will do my utmost to ensure the nuanced story built by the two protagonists resonates deeply with the audience.”
