The anticipation is palpable as Disney Plus reveals a first look at Lee Joon Hyuk’s character stills from their upcoming action thriller, Vigilante.
Vigilante unfurls around Kim Ji Yong, a law-abiding cadet by day who morphs into a vengeful vigilante by night, hunting down criminals who’ve slipped through the legal cracks.
Lee Joon Hyuk portrays Jo Kang Ok, the scion of the influential DK Group. A young executive armed with both wealth and information, Jo Kang Ok emerges as an ardent devotee of the “Vigilante.” Having dreamt of becoming a hero in his childhood, he feels euphoric when he saw the news about the real-life hero “Vigilante.”
Breathing life into Jo Kang Ok’s singular personality was no cakewalk for Lee Joon Hyuk. With his flair for oscillating between the sophisticated demeanor of a billionaire heir and an untamed, free-spirited madness, Lee recalls, “I knew I had to seize the chance to portray such a unique character. Jo Kang Ok is freer than most, and I’ve tapped into that liberty while preparing for the role. Preparing for him, I thought he’s a lot like a musical, so I got help from variety shows, documentaries, and reality programs for inspiration.”
Director Choi Jeong Yeol was equally impressed with Lee’s performance, noting, “I wanted (Kang Ok) to have the sophistication, dandiness, and sexiness. And Lee Joon Hyuk was the perfect fit. He was like a razor-sharp blade on set, continually astounding everyone.”
Mark your calendars. Vigilante will premiere on Disney Plus on November 8th and will be available for streaming every Wednesday.
