TVING raised the curtain on its new drama Study Group on the 20th, and it certainly got an eye-catching cast. The roster has stars like Hwang Minhyun, Han Ji Eun, Cha Woo Min, Lee Jong Hyun, and Shin Soo Hyun.
Study Group isn’t a typical high school drama. It’s a high-school action extravaganza centering around Yoon Ga Min, a student who dreams of academic excellence but seems to only excel in fisticuffs. His journey unfolds as he forms a study group at Yooseong High School.
Hwang Minhyun steps into the role of Yoon Ga Min, who appears to be a model student on the surface but unleashes his hidden brute strength whenever his study buddies find themselves in a bind. He’ll be showcasing his martial arts (Jeet Kune Do) skills. Han Ji Eun plays a temporary teacher at Yooseong High School, Lee Han Kyung, who hides a secret even after topping the teacher certification examination. She also cheers on Yoon Ga Min, her former tutoring student.
Cha Woo Min locks down the role of Pi Han Wool, the top dog at Yooseong and the son of Pi Yeon Baek, the leader of the notorious gang Yeonbaek. He’ll be adding layers of tension as the drama’s villain. Joining the ensemble, Lee Jong Hyun portrays Kim Se Hyun, the school’s second top student and the first to join the study group. Lastly, Shin Soo Hyun plays Lee Ji Woo, who’s under the thumb of the disciplinary committee due to his twin sibling.
Director Lee Jang Hoon of Miracle: Letters to the President and Be With You takes the helm, while writer Um Sun Ho pens the script. The creators share, “Study Group is a drama featuring protagonists and friends who dream of change,” adding, “We hope it becomes a beacon of encouragement for everyone grappling with the harsh realities of today.”
Stay tuned to catch this combustible mix of brains and brawn on TVING!
