Jeon Hye Jin and Choi Sooyoung‘s drama Not Others is taking the Korean TV scene by storm.

The heartfelt plot of the Genie TV original series aired on the 1st has captivated the audience across the nation. According to Nielsen Korea, the episode secured a 3.6% nationwide viewership and 4.0% in the metropolitan area, making it the number one spot among Monday-Tuesday dramas. This is a rise from 1.6% (nationwide) in the first episode.

Not Others tells a heartwarming story of a single mother and her cool-headed daughter. The show features an ensemble cast of Jeon Hye Jin, Choi Sooyoung, Ahn Jae Wook, and Park Sung Hoon.

The latest episode unfolded the emotional backstory of Eun Mi (Jeon Hye Jin) and Jin Hee (Choi Sooyoung). The sincerity of the mother and daughter, who had been living a challenging life in their respective roles, was revealed, drawing heartfelt sentiments from the viewers.

Previously, Jin Hee found out that her biological father was Jin Hong (Ahn Jae Wook). But this didn’t matter much to her. More important than the sudden appearance of her biological father was protecting her mother amidst a neighborhood turmoil caused by a murder case. Hence, Jin Hee attempted to put a stop to Eun Mi’s love life, something she’d never done before.

Despite Jin Hee’s discouragement, Eun Mi was irresistibly drawn to her first love. As her encounters with Jin Hong continued, Eun Mi became more concerned about her mother. As the mother-daughter conflict deepened, they ended up dredging up painful past memories, leaving emotional scars on each other. Their confessions, after years of silently suffering for each other’s sake, moved viewers deeply.
