What secret is Hwang Min Hyun bearing in My Lovely Liar? On the 12th, tvN unveiled the first stills from its upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama My Lovely Liar, providing a first glance at the shrouded-in-mystery genius composer Kim Do Ha, played by Hwang Minhyun.
My Lovely Liar illustrates the truth-seeking romance between Mok Sol Hee (Kim So Hyun), who’s unable to trust people due to her unique ability to detect lies, and Kim Do Ha, a genius composer harboring a secret.
The released stills incite curiosity as they capture Kim Do Ha’s past and present. His high school days are full of youthfulness, just like any of his peers. With no shadows crossing his face, he appears innocent and unblemished.
However, the present-day Kim Do Ha gives off an entirely different vibe. He sits in front of a grand piano, performing with a mask that he never takes off. His eyes brimming with caution and revealing his inherent desire to shield himself from the world. Even at his own home, he carries an air of somber solitude, living like a shadow.
Hwang Minhyun shared his thoughts about being a part of My Lovely Liar. “I’ve always wanted to work on a contemporary romance series, and My Lovely Liar provided a great opportunity,” he shared. “The unique traits each character possessed in the script were fascinating. The conflicts and struggles and how the characters band together to solve and heal was captivating.”
On his character, Kim Do Ha, he shared, “Kim Do Ha is a character with many secrets – living a self-isolated and disconnected life for a long time, inadvertently leading a dual existence. Hidden within his mysterious exterior and his reluctance to let people close, lies his secret.” He further teased, “He gradually begins to change after meeting Mok Sol Hee, the only person who trusts him, and begins to step back into the world. His occasional clumsy and awkward interactions will surely bring a smile to the viewers.”
Meanwhile, My Lovely Liar is set to hit the small screens on July 31st.
