Min Woo Hyuk appeared on MBC’s The Manager and revealed his love story with Lee Se Mi.
Min Woo Hyuk is entering his 12th year of marriage this year. Regarding their first meeting, he chuckled and said, “We met through a blind date. My friend made a little mistake. You see, I prefer women who are modest and delicate. But Se Mi showed me a picture of herself in a swimsuit. And when she saw my picture, she said I looked nerdy. So, we didn’t like each other at first sight.”
Min Woo Hyuk then revealed, “One day, I got drunk with a friend who introduced me to her. That friend took me to a second round at a place where Lee Semee was. I was so drunk that I ended up dancing there. However, she couldn’t drink at all, so she kept pouring me water mixed with honey by my side. That’s how we started seeing each other.”
Min Woo Hyuk lives with his grandmother, parents, and five of their children. He explained, “When my parents were going through some financial difficulties around the time I wanted to get married, I told Se Mi, ‘I really want to marry you, but please wait for three more years. I will propose to you after three years.’ She responded, ‘What if things doesn’t work out after three years? Will you marry me then?’ So, we decided to just get married and live together.”
However, his decision to get married didn’t sit well with his agency. Min Woo Hyuk said, “So, I told them I would leave. We got married that year, and I worked part-time jobs for a year. Then, my wife suggested that she’d audition for a home shopping host position because my parents were struggling with money. She got the job, and since then, we have been living together as a family for eight years.”
Min Woo Hyuk revealed that his son is currently pursuing his dream of becoming a national representative ice hockey player. When asked if he worries about his son playing sports, he replied, “It would be great if he becomes a professional athlete. But even if he doesn’t, he will learn how to overcome challenges in society. That’s how it was for me. I played baseball for ten years, and now I am tenacious enough to overcome just about anything in life.”
Lastly, Min Woo Hyuk left a video message for his wife. He expressed his affection, saying, “Se Mi, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Thank you for always believing in me and supporting me, allowing our family to be together. I always say thank you, but from now on, I will strive to be someone you can be thankful for.”
