The rift between SM Entertainment and EXO sub-unit members Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin (collectively known as EXO-CBX) has been amicably resolved. The trio will continue their careers under SM Entertainment.
SM Entertainment and EXO-CBX released a joint statement on June 19th, confirming the amicable resolution of recent conflicts.
Together, they stated, “There had been a situation where issues were being raised publicly from different standpoints.” They continued, “In relation to this, our company and the three artists sincerely apologize for causing concern.” They further added, “Our company and the three artists had ample time to discuss all issues. We have resolved the differences that arose from misunderstandings and reached a mutual, amicable agreement.”
The statement further confirmed, “We acknowledge and maintain the contract.” It was also declared that “Our company and the three artists have pledged to strengthen our future relationship through a process of mutual, equitable consultation and amendment. Moreover, our company has agreed to support and endorse the three artists so they can fully display their individuality and carry out activities in new and diverse ways.”
Regarding the previous allegations of interference from external forces, it was clarified as a misunderstanding. SM Entertainment had previously identified a third-party external force as the primary cause of the disruption. “Through this discussion, we realized that our company had misunderstood certain aspects,” SM Entertainment stated in its apology. “We would like to express our regret to those who were troubled by our statement.”
The joint statement concluded, “Our company and the three artists would like to apologize to the fans, EXO members, and those waiting. We will also do our best to repay the support of many who have stood by us.”
